Culture

Paragraph A.
I would define American culture as diverse and a variety of people all together as one. American culture is also a way that the people in our country are alike and a part of something bigger than just a country. It is important that we all are a part of one, united nation because if we’re not, then our country would fall apart. Americans may have different customs and different beliefs, but together we all feel that we will do whatever it takes to be a united nation. All of us, in one way or another, choose how we will share our diverse cultures and find things in common with all of them. For example, all people should remember 9-11 and all of those people that risked their lives to save other people. Also, people should remember the Pearl Harbor Attack and what happened to all of those citizens who died. Everyone should celebrate those two holidays especially because those are two historical events that no one will ever forget. Most people work in their community to help make where they live e better place for not only them, but the people around them. For example, the people of Livonia help to make our city better by having a Livonia Recreation Center, and other activities that people can do together to work as a team. Our community has tons of activities that kids, as well as parents, can do together such as sports, picnics, and other activities that families can do together. Even though people may have other religions, races or ways of living, we are all a part of one, unique, American culture.

Paragraph B.
My culture is many different things. I am Polish, German, Russian, and Czechoslovakian. Both sides of my family celebrate our cultures in different ways. For example, one time each year we go to my grandma’s house, on my dad’s side of the family, and we make Kielbasa with this special hand-cranking machine that my Aunt Marie has. Kielbasa is a type of Polish sausage. My uncle goes to the meat market before and buys at least 5-10 pounds of meat. Then my grandma puts all of the seasonings in it to make either the original one or the Italian sausage. It is a tradition that my dad’s Polish family has had ever since I can remember. On Christmas Eve, my mom’s side of the family comes over to our house and we celebrate Christmas Eve by going to church, either together or separately, and then we go to my house. We eat Pierogis (Polish dumplings), Kielbasa, and other ethnic foods. Then we will have the bread from church and break it to share with each other and say, “Peace be with you.” I am also a Christian, which I think separates me from everyone else because there are a ton of different religions that people can choose to have beliefs in. I believe that if different families didn’t have diverse cultures, then our world would not be the way that it is today.
